What We Do

Tetrode Power LLC develops, distributes and promotes the use of batteries and other alternative energy systems for the film industry in order to reduce the industry’s carbon footprint. Diesel generators currently produce over half the carbon footprint in film production. Efforts to reduce the use of diesel have met the same resistance as the move from ICEs to EVs.

Why We Do It

Tetrode’s mission is to develop workflows in film production that encourage the use of battery energy storage systems (BESS) to replace diesel generators. This involves working with battery manufacturers to source and design BESS units with the features needed in film production and with film producers, such as Netflix, to adopt these units as part of the equipment requirements.

How We Do It

The full workflow involves identifying and sourcing equipment that can meet the electrical needs of film production inclusive of power output, power duration, industry specific voltage and connectors, recharging duration, transportation, and fire safety. Tetrode Power is sourcing equipment from a variety of manufacturers and providing design input. Tetrode is participating in industry education forums to expand the adoption of this technology.
